ablation zone examples |
|
The following are examples of potential ablation results using single and multiple MWA surgical antennas. These examples are from ex vivo animal tissue (liver) models. The size of ablation zones may vary in clinical settings. |

Single MWA surgical antenna for Planar Coagulation
The following illustration and table depict the approximate size of an ablation zone that may be created by a single Evident™ MW Ablation Surgical Antenna energized at 45 W and various time settings for use during planar coagulation. The shaded regions in the images represent the zone of tissue coagulation created around the antenna.

Linear MWA surgical antennas Configuration
for Planar Coagulation
The following illustration and table depict the approximate size of an ablation zone that may be created by multiple Evident™ MW Ablation Surgical Antennas energized simultaneously at 45 W and 2 minutes at various spacings. When performing planar coagulation prior to resection with multiple antennas, do not space antennas closer than 1 cm for ablation time greater than 3 minutes, and do not space antennas closer than 0.5 cm for ablation time greater than 30 seconds.

Cluster MWA surgical antennas Configuration
for Planar Coagulation
The following illustration and table depict the approximate size of an ablation zone that may be created by multiple Evident™ MW Ablation Surgical Antennas in a cluster configuration of 0.5 cm between each antenna energized simultaneously at 45 W and 30 seconds. When performing planar coagulation prior to resection with multiple antennas, do not space antennas closer than 0.5 cm for ablation time greater than 30 seconds.
